Cover Design for NYT Book Review

ART DIRECTOR   Jason Kernevich
INSTITUTION   Tyler School of Art & Architecture

In response to the New York Times article "Michael Pollan Explores the Mind-Altering Plants in His Garden," I created an evocative illustration that captures Pollan's surreal and unsettling nature. In my illustration, the garden is depicted as a crumbling, overgrown space filled with exotic plants that seem to be bursting out of the earth. The centerpiece of the garden is a melting concrete fountain, which serves as a visual metaphor for the transformative power of the mind-altering plants that Pollan explores in the article. Work received the Winner of Communication Arts 64th Illustration Annual.
